It’s the eve of the month of love and humans are not the only ones who would like to have the perfect date on Valentine's Day.

Cochrane Ecological Institute (CEI) has launched a fun social media feature spotlighting dating profiles for single animals who are looking for a mate to swipe right on.

President of the Cochrane Ecological Institute, Clio Smeeton says it’s a fun way to feature animals who are about to enter the mating season. “We came up with it because we thought it was funny. This time of year, now until the middle of April, wildlife is beginning to think about looking into mating and stuff like that."

While these wild animals might not have their own dating apps, they do know how to find the right partner.

“They all have different methods of doing this. The owl starts first and they start calling. People will start hearing the coyotes calling soonish and then the foxes start calling."

It’s through these fun features that CEI hopes to continue to educate the public about all the animals we share our area with.

“We're trying to get people to realize that wildlife shares our environment with us, and like us, and the dating sites and everything else, they will look for love in due course.”

“The goal for us and for all the animals that we have is to release them back into the wild.”

CEI is planning on releasing more ‘dating profiles’ for their animals and releasing them on their Facebook Page.
