Snap Dance Studios is looking forward to getting dancers back in the groove by hosting an intensive camp next week (August 27-30).

Alison Stutz, Studio Manager, says the summer intensive camp 'So You Think You Can Groove?' not only provides the opportunity for Snap dancers to get a jump start on learning extra choreography but is a great way to get dancers ready for the upcoming season.  With Tara Jean Popowich winner of 'So You Think You Can Dance Canada' teaching a class, it shows kids that being passionate can lead to many places. "The week is a great way to get them back into it at the end of summer and it is also great for someone like Tara Jean who grew up in small-town Alberta dancing, just like these kids are now,  to show them that if dance is really what you want that anything is possible."

The intensive camp has a limited number of spots available and is open to dancers with some experience community-wide. "We kind of say two plus years dancing, they need to have a little bit of a foundation to jump in these classes but it is for ages 6+. It is absolutely open to anyone in the community or around Cochrane, who is interested in dance and would benefit from something like this."

There will be a limited number of drop-in classes available for those families who may not be able to afford the cost of a full week but still want to take a class or two. "We are really excited and it's going to be a great week; we have a 'Q and A' with Tara Jean and a great lunchtime activity outside of dance for the kids. They get everything from improv with Tara Jean, a salsa class, musical theatre, we do a huge showcase on Friday for all the parents which is going to be really fantastic. It is just a huge learning week for the kids and it's a lot of fun."

Stutz adds the best part of the entire week is knowing they are creating an inclusive dance community for all. "It is fun for them to get to dance with different kids from other places in the community and even outside Cochrane, that is always great. We love that it is an inclusive camp for anybody that loves to dance in the area. Every kid deserves that opportunity and if you are into dance and this opportunity would help you grow, then our door is open one hundred percent."

Snap Dance Studios will be opening the doors to their brand new 'white studio' during the summer intensive camp which is located in the space the former Coffee Traders roasterie occupied.
