The Junior 'C' Cochrane Generals have their home opener tonight (Oct. 27) for their sophomore season.

The Gens are hosting the North West Warriors at 8:45 p.m. in Totem 3, and follows a road loss to Springbank the week previous.

The team was created last year to provide more opportunities for those under 21 to play competitive junior hockey.

Nolan Spadafore answered the call to take over as the new bench boss.

"We're going to be fast, we're going to be physical, we're going to be hard, and it's going to be a lot of fun," says Spadafore. "I think we have a good group of guys who get along well in the dressing and off the ice, so it should be exciting."

Spadafore played three seasons in the AJHL and a few games at the career in the SJHL in 2019-20. His younger brother is on the Jr. C team, and they didn't have a coach so he volunteered. It's his first year of coaching.

The time committed for junior C hockey is less than for higher-level junior teams. Spadafore says they may only practice once a week but they go hard. They have games once, sometimes twice a week. Most of their home games are on Friday nights at 8:45 in Totem 3.

They next host the Bow River Bruins on Nov. 3, also at 8:45 p.m.
