An annual fun, family event is returning this Saturday, May 28 at the Historic Cochrane Ranche site.

The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee is very pleased to present, “Leaves Abound from All Around”.

The annual newcomer event was postponed last year due to COVID and CISC is thrilled to be able to hold the get-together this year.

The welcoming event is for all Cochrane and area newcomers to attend and meet new friends and learn about all the great local organizations and resources that are available in our community.  SLS Family Sports Centre, Cochrane Public Library, Cochrane FCSS, Seniors on the Bow, Cochrane and Area Boys and Girls Club, CSHO, Helping Hands, and Prospect will have booths at the event.

Kristina Kindree, president of Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC) says, “There will be cultural representation who are coming with a booth, interesting information, some games and perhaps some food samples (if it’s applicable for some of the cultures). We have the Philippines, Thailand, Germany, Indian, and Honduras who are participating with us this year.” Kindree adds, “It’s a great way to learn about the resources we have in town and also, it’s a great opportunity to meet the other newcomers and learn a little bit more about the other cultures in town. It’s a great way to make meaningful connections for sure.”

There will be snacks, games, activities, music, door prizes, and more.

Kindree stresses, “Everyone is welcome. The event is to welcome the newcomers but everyone in Cochrane and in Alberta is welcome to come to the event, bring the whole family.”

"Leaves Abound from All Around" is happening Saturday, May 28 from 1-4 p.m. at the Cochrane Ranche.
