There's no better way to kick off Canada Day than with a belly full of pancakes.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Cochrane Branch is once again hosting a toonie pancake breakfast on July 1 to start off the day of festivities.

Cochrane residents are being encouraged to wear their red and white for the breakfast which includes live music, and a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m.

There will also be complimentary Canada Day cupcakes.

Small Canadian flags, pins and stickers will be available from members of Cochrane Town Council while supplies last.

The pancake breakfast goes from 9 a.m. until noon. Children under five are free.

After the breakfast, a full day of fun will continue over at Mitford Park that includes activities for the whole family.

The day will end with fireworks.
