A young man who was reported missing from Cochrane has been found deceased.

22 year old Melvin Blackmore went missing from Cochrane's Heritage neighbourhood on October 2nd.

RCMP Sgt. John Spaans says his body was located yesterday.

"Yesterday morning, October 7th, shortly after 5:00 am Mr. Blackmore was found deceased in a rural area down what's described as a goat path or a cutline."

Spaan says that area was northwest of Cochrane off Highway 40 in the North Ghost Public Land Use area.

"Investigators attended the scene and gathered evidence on behalf of the Medical Examiner's Office.  With these kinds of cases, once we locate someone deceased we consult with the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death."

Spaans did not reveal the cause of death but did say,  "At this point there's nothing to lead investigators to believe there's any public safety issues or anything criminal in nature at this time."

The police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.
