Monday noon is the deadline to book your dinners for the annual Stockmen's Dinner and Auction, Oct. 30.

Patsy's Place is preparing the AAA premier smoked prime beef dinners for the event that remains virtual through the pandemic.

Scott Grattidge says this is the best AAA premier beef available from Cargill, who has donated all the beef for the fundraiser. The meal also includes potatoes, gravy, horseradish, vegetables, Caesar salad, and dessert,

They can be picked up hot between 5 and 6:30 p.m. in a drive-thru style at the main entrance of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

While enjoying that meal at home, you'll also be bid on over 100 auction items generously donated by supporters and local businesses.

"If you want to bid on any of them, you can see the descriptions, and there are pictures. There's everything from new chain saws, a load of gravel, some beautiful Western art to a go-cart, and everything in between."

All the items can be viewed in person at the Stockmen’s Bert Sheppard Library at the Cochrane RancheHouse from Tuesday, Oct, 23 to Friday, Oct. 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or online at www.stockmen.ca starting Monday. You will also receive a printed catalog when you pick up your meal.

Online bidding begins on Oct. 28 at www.stockmen.ca and lots begin to close at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30. One bid item will close each minute thereafter.

The dinner and auction is the main fundraiser of the year for the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation. The proceeds help share the rich western history of the livestock industry in Alberta through the foundation's extensive collection of artifacts, Western art, library as well as archives of cancelled brand files for Alberta.

Dinner tickets are $35 each and can be purchased by calling the Stockmen’s at 403-932-3782 or emailing library@smflibrary.ca.

It's free to visit the Stockmen’s. Operating hours are currently Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
