Helping Hands Society of Cochrane & Area is setting up a food drive for the Nakoda Food Bank in Mînî Thnî all weekend at the annual Cochrane Trade Show.

April Baird, Food Security Programs Manager for Helping Hands Society says it's a great way for the communities to stand together.

“Cochrane is a big community so it's really easy to focus all of our efforts here but Mînî Thnî are right next door and their need is just as massive as anybody can imagine.”

“Food banks are all crying for help, and we're hoping that with enough awareness people will bring down some non-perishable donations for us to share with our neighbours.”

High-demand items include:

Baby food or baby formula

Canned fish or meat

Canned fruit or vegetables

Granola bars

Juice boxes or other items for school lunches

Macaroni and cheese

Pasta and sauce

Peanut butter

Powdered milk

Soup

Helping Hands will be set up near the entrance of the SLS Centre throughout the Trade Show weekend collecting donations.
