Is losing last year's weight gain on your top ten list?

One one of the most popular resolutions is battling the bulge and hitting the gym will be a top priority for many people.

Tracy Thorogood, Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Personal Trainer says the secret to success is to set small, attainable goals that are easy to stick by.

"The specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time based goals so that they can have something really specific to get to, and try to make them a little bit smaller than normal. Try to do a two week goal or a month goal rather than a goal for the entire year."

Not sure where to start...Thorogood, says no problem, that is a majority of people coming in.

"Basically our biggest clientele in this building is people walking in off the street and not having a clue what they are doing once they get in here. It is actually a really great place to be because everyone is in the same boat."

Thorogood, adds everyone gets a free half hour consultation with a trainer which can help navigate your best starting position; whether that is a specific class or looking at one on one personal training.

"Even just to sit down and find out what it is that you want to do because some people don't even know that, what they like to do for fitness."

Fitness goals can be attained throughout the year, reminds Thorogood, exercising patience will be required by all gym goers.

"We absolutely appreciate any kind of patience, the classes are going to be really busy right now. If you are coming to a class try to get here at least ten minutes early."
