Starting Friday, Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) will close the railway crossing along River Avenue in Cochrane.

The area will be closed throughout the weekend to allow crews time to rehabilitate the area.

A new concrete crossing surface is set to be installed and old, weathered railway tracks will also be replaced. An improved pedestrian crossing is also expected.

From the evening of Friday, September 9 to the evening of Monday, September 12, River Avenue will be blocked to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic between First Street East and Railway Street East.

The various other railway crossings in Cochrane will remain open throughout construction.
