Are you looking forward to making a splash in the Jayman Aquatic Centre? Well there is a chance by Sunday (July 30) you will be able to do just that.

Suzanne Gaida, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, says while they have been granted approval they are flushing the green coloured lap pool water one more time. "It has passed all the AHS (Alberta Health Services) tests, so we know the system is working fine. We still believe there is some kind of metal or carbon caught in the filter medium, so they are working on that."

If the town can figure out the cause of the green water and AHS knows they are working to find a solution the pool permit will be granted. Lifeguards started in-water training this past Sunday and will continue throughout the week.

"If all goes well, we are hoping by this weekend we will be able to open; and again not sure, tentatively looking at this Sunday."

Worst case scenario, Gaida shares, is early next week. "It's all about what is causing the water in the lap pool to be green because all the other pools are fine. It is a different filter system on the lap pool that leaves us to believe there is something within. The filters are sand filters and that is what cleans the water so something is trapped in that sand that is causing the water to go green."

Gaida shares whether they need to replace all the sand or another remedy they will get to the bottom of it.

It is also a good reminder that annual memberships will remain at current prices until July 31, saving you some money.
