Cochrane quarterback Xavier Vaillancourt got his first start with the UCalgary Dinos yesterday in Regina.

The first-year quarterback led the Dinos to a 15-7 lead in the first half. After a scoreless third quarter, the Rams scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth to win 23-15.

From his own 27, Vaillancourt hit Gob Deng at the opposing 45-yard line on the final play of the first quarter. Deng worked his way through the Rams defence to take it in for a major. Vaillancourt capped off a six-play, 71-yard drive with a 30-yard pass to Ben Gagnon with 3:13 remaining in the second quarter to take a 15-1 lead.

The Cochrane quarterback went 19-of-33 for 251 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Coming into the game late in the fourth quarter against the UBC Thunderbirds last week, he found Deng in the end zone to score his first touchdown as a Dino.

After two weeks on the road, the Dinos return to McMahon Stadium on Friday to challenge the next weekend for a Friday night contest against the Saskatchewan Huskies. The Huskies are coming off their first loss of the season against the Alberta Golden Bears, 26-22.

Cochrane defensive back Tate Pickard and receiver Ethan Clazie are first-year players with the Huskies.

Yesterday's win was the first for the Rams this season. The Dinos remain winless in their first three games.
