UPDATE - Search called off:

Turner Valley RCMP announced Sunday morning that the body of Maxwell James Mayling has been discovered. 

His death is not considered suspicious and the RCMP thank the public's help.

Turner Valley RCMP is currently helping with a search for 50-year-old Maxwell James Mayling along with the Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Search And Rescue Association (CALSARA).

Maxwell's vehicle, a maroon 2009 Buick Enclave, was found Saturday, April 8, 2023 on Highway 40 near the gate by Highwood Junction near Highwood House.

It is believed he may have left the Calgary area to go hiking in Kananaskis. He was last seen in Calgary on Tuesday April 4, 2023.

Maxwell James Mayling is described as:

  • 6’0’’
  • 180 pounds
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

RCMP are searching for a missing person in Kananaskis Country.

The RCMP shutdown Hwy 940 at Highwood House in southern K-Country on Saturday morning as the search continues.

Highwood House is at the junction of Hwy 541/Hwy 40 and Hwy 940.

Members of the Foothills Search and Rescue team and the Cochrane Search and Rescue teams are involved.

More details are expected from the RCMP this afternoon.
