Cochrane Toyota and Prairie Toyota Dealers are offering a drive-in movie event this Saturday (August 14) and it will now take place right here in Cochrane at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Originally set to be hosted in the Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino parking lot, Ryan Baum, General Manager of Cochrane Toyota explains the change of location.

“Fortunately, Stoney Nakoda casino has been really busy, and last year with COVID they were quite shut down. They had to make a business decision that they needed the parking space for their customers and we fully respect that.”

“Our first call was to the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre. Michelle and her team there just jumped on it right away. We're excited to do it there so it’s conveniently coming back to Cochrane which is nice, it's a little closer to home for us which is good.“

Tickets for the event are available now, with a “donate what you can system” in place. All funds raised will be added to The Young Professional Rotary Club of Cochrane and Area emergency fund.

“This way it's Cochrane residents providing funds and donations that will go directly back to Cochranites and residents and people in times of need.”

“With restrictions being open, we encourage people to come and bring their lawn chairs if they want to sit outside their car and enjoy the night hopefully it's a clear sky we can have a great, great evening.”

The movie being shown is the family-friendly Rya and the Last Dragon. Gates open at 7 p.m. with the movie beginning at 9 p.m.

Tickets are per vehicle and are available now
