If you've ever wanted to give a triathlon a whirl there's a perfect indoor ladies-only event coming up in Cochrane.

Organizer Richelle Love says our climate doesn't always allow for triathlons in the colder months so she wanted to organize an indoor event.

She says "You have ten minutes to swim as many laps as you want whether that's one lap or 50 it's up to you. Then we're going to do a quick transition and head upstairs at Spray Lakes into the Spin room and you're going to cycle for 20 minutes for as far as you can and after that we'll transition and head over to the wonderful indoor track there and run for 15 minutes for as many laps as you can."

Organizer Rose Serpico says there will be a wide-range in physical abilities at this event.

She says "It's an environment to learn and it's also an environment to set your bar high. We do have people who are going to be seasoned triathletes who are going to be coming and doing it but we're also going to have people who have never done one. So you can come and test it out and see how you feel."

Love says they enjoy working with women and thought it was important to bring a group of ladies together for this event.

She says "There's often a barrier, that intimidation factor that some women, not every woman finds, and we just really wanted to create something special and unique. There's something pretty incredible when you get a large group of women together."

Rise Up goes on Feb. 23 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

TIckets are $55 and you get to participate in the race, you get post-race food and a finishers bracelet that will remind you of your accomplishments.

Love and Serpico own Tri It Multisport in Calgary.
