Two of the 2021-22 leadership changes announced today by Rocky View Schools (RVS) will impact the Glenbow School.

It also saw the announcement of principals for the division's first standalone online schools.

Jason Billings has been named principal at Glenbow Elementary School.

Principal of R.J. Hawkey Elementary School in Airdrie since 2018, Billings joined RVS in 2016 after serving as a principal, assistant principal, and teacher with Peel School Board in Ontario since 2005. He also served as a teacher and team leader in Seoul, South Korea from 2003-2005 and a math and science teacher for the Calgary Board of Education from 1999-2002.

As an administrator, Billings is known for establishing a safe, caring school climate and prioritizing communication between school and home.

Teachers 1In the fall, Bob Rodgers will be principal of the new RVS online grade 1 to 9 school, and Cindy Stefanato will be assistant principal at Glenbow Elementary School.

Cindy Stefanato will be assistant principal at Glenbow and is currently an assistant principal with Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD).

Stefanato has worked as a teacher and administrator with CCSD since 2008. Before that, she was a teacher with the Thunder Bay Catholic School Board from 2004-2006 and the Durham Catholic District School Board from 2006-2008.

As a leader, she aims to create an environment where collaboration, respect, relationships, and honest communication create safety for members to grow, feel valued, and develop their own leadership potential.

Bob Rodgers has been named principal of the first standalone RVS online grade 1 to 9 school.

He's currently principal of Crossfield Elementary School, a position he has held since 2016.

Since 1998, Rodgers has worked as an administrator and teacher at several schools in the division including Mitford School, W.G. Murdoch School, Ralph McCall School, Beiseker Community School, and RVS Community Learning Centres. 

Dave Smith will return to a principal role as principal of Grades 10-12 at RVS’s new online school after serving as RVS’s Divisional Principal of Technology since 2018.

Smith has been instrumental in guiding RVS staff and students through several transitions to online learning and back to in-person learning in the past 14 months.

He began his career with RVS as a teacher in 1999 and became an administrator in 2007. In his time with the jurisdiction, he’s worked at Muriel Clayton Middle School, George McDougall High School, École Airdrie Middle School, Bert Church High School, Langdon School, and C. W. Perry School.

Scott Bloxham will become principal of George McDougall High School in Airdrie after serving as principal of Muriel Clayton Middle School since 2019. Since 2004, Bloxham has served as a drama teacher at Springbank Community High School, Chestermere Lake Middle School, and Bert Church High School, before joining the ranks of RVS administrators as an assistant principal at Bert Church and Bow Valley High School.

In his various roles, Bloxham is well known for dedicating significant time to extra-curricular programs like drama productions, sports teams, and speech and debate clubs. He has also helped modernize a learning commons, served as a mentor and facilitator for RVS’s Administrative Leadership Program, and organized international travel groups.
