The Rockyview Silvertips split their games over the weekend and continue to have a handsome lead in the central division of the Jr. B Tier 1 league of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).

Friday night at home, the Silvertips were ahead 6-2 after the first and went on to a 16-9 win over the Mountain View Mavericks. Josh Halco, who's fourth in scoring in the central division, had six goals on the night.

Yesterday, they dropped an 11-5 decision to the St. Albert Crude on the road in their only meeting of the regular season against the north division team.

"The game went all right, but we just couldn't get the ball in the net and couldn't capitalize on the chances and the looks that we got," says head coach Tyler Waycott.

With a playoff spot already clinch the goal is to finish first. That would give them a bye into the divisional final.

"With that bye, we can rest up and get some injuries that we have healed, or get some maintenance done on our guys," says Waycott.

Head coach Tyler Waycott confirms winning their two final divisional games is huge for playoff seeding, but they strive to do more than that.

"We still want to put our best foot forward and win all the way through.  Our focus right now is getting ready for Thursday's matchup against Okotoks."

First place is unfamiliar territory for the Tips. Waycott attributes their success to smart draft picks and the chemistry on the bench.

"They're just a great group of guys that are buying in and working together. We've just got a special group here right now who are pushing each other every day to get better."

After Thursday night's game, they head to Olds to face the Mountainview Mavericks on July 2.

The team is back home on July 3 to take on the Red Deer Rampage, then finish their regular season at home against the Manitoba Blizzard on July 9.
