A snowfall warning is in effect for Cochrane and other parts of southern Alberta.

According to Environment Canada, a low-pressure system is moving into the province bringing with it 10 to 15 centimeters of snow.

Snow has begun in the Cochrane and surrounding areas and will spread to the East eventually tapering off Wednesday morning as the system pushes into Saskatchewan.

Motorists are being reminded to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Environment Canada is also reminding drivers to turn on their lights and leave a safe distance between themselves and other vehicles as visibility may be reduced at times due to the snowfall.

Other areas under the snowfall warning are Airdrie, Crossfield, Carstairs, Olds, Didsbury, Cremona, Bottrel and Madden as well as other communities to the south and east of the Calgary area.
