The St. Tim's senior girls field hockey team has advanced to the semifinals in the CSHSAA field hockey playoffs with a 1-0 win over John G. Diefenbaker, May 29.

The Thunder will be facing Lester B. Pearson on June 1 and should they succeed will once again advance to the City Championship game, June 6.

St. Tim's remains undefeated on the season after moving up to division 2. They topped the regular season with four wins and three ties and were closely paced by Bishop Grandin,  just one point back with a 4-1-2 record.

It's been another storybook season for the Thunder as the school's athletes continue to embrace the sport and play at a high level. They won the tier three city championship in 2015 and lost a heart-breaking overtime final last year. They didn't blink when they moved up a tier, even when a third of their players come from grade 10.

Game time is 4 p.m.at the Calgary Soccer Centre.
