After one of the wettest, coldest October's, someone has flipped a switch and brought back summer.

Kirk Torneby, Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we haven't seen temperatures like these since the mid 70s, and he imagines we will be breaking records.

"For beginning of November we are sitting well above normal for this time of year. Normals for southern Alberta are just a few degrees above zero, for the Cochrane area normals for this time of year about three. A large dome of warm air has pushed up across the prairies, especially Alberta; latter part of this week and into next week we are looking at highs in around the high teens into low twenties."

Torneby says the wind is adding to the warm conditions.

"The one factor that is helping us get a little bit warmer is a little bit of mixing with some wind, helping to bring down some warm temperatures from aloft."

The warm weather will peak over the next two days, before cooling off a bit the weekend of the 12th.

As far as snow?! Torneby says there is nothing in the foreseeable future.

"When we look at the seasonal forecast it shows through December above normal conditions are expected to persist."

Perhaps Cochranites can pack away the winter jackets and toques for a little while longer.
