The Elysa Crough rink is in search of their first win at the Alberta Scotties this afternoon against Edmonton's Selena Sturmay.

It's Day Two in the qualifying round of the Alberta women's championship that's being hosted in Grande Prairie, Jan. 3-9.

Both of their losses yesterday came in tough contests against Laura Walker, the reigning 2020 champion, and Kelsey Rocque.

In their opening game, it came down to a single point scored in the tenth by Walker for a 7-6 win.

Crough scored four in the eighth to temporarily gain the lead over Rocque in their second game last night. Rocque grabbed a single in the ninth, then scored two in the tenth for a 7-5 win.

Tomorrow, Team Crough faces the Kayla Skrlik rink.

Cochrane curler Julianna MacKenzie is lead for the junior team that earned a berth in early December at a playdown hosted by Vulcan. Six of the eight teams were prequalified.
