Fresh pavement and a slight realignment of Railway St. have brought the "Robot Crew" back to town to provide their expertise.

You may have seen the three-man survey crew working along about a two-block stretch of road downtown artery since early his week.

They are using up-to-date robotic technology for the project to ensure accurate street markings. The "TinySurveyor" is becoming a commonplace tool for surveying and infrastructure industries.

Blake Wildfong, of LaFrentz, leads the crew and explains the survey robot uses GPS to accurately mark the lines within 10 cm of the street's revised design.

Afterward, highly durable plastic roadmarking material is applied.

He says they have completed several other projects for the town.

Lafrentz is a major Western Canadian road marking company that applies painted road markings, durable road markings, and safety markings/surfaces.

The work should wrap up this week. Those travelling this section of Railway street, from the corner of Centre and 5th Ave. should drive with caution to help protect the work crew.

The Robot Crew isn't their official tag, of course, but it's one they commonly hear and it has stuck.
