The Cochrane Activettes are now accepting applications for student bursaries.

Typically the local volunteer service club hands out one bursary, but this year two bursaries valued at $3500 each will be issued to local students heading off to college or university.

Charlene Jollymore who is on the bursary committee said the money must be used towards tuition and compulsory fees for the fall session.

"It's a great way to target that demographic in the community and it's also for students to access assistance with their education. It's a win-win."

The bursary is open to any applicant that is:

-A graduate of a high school in Cochrane

-Attending or will be attending a post-secondary school

-21 years of age or younger as of June 1, 2023

-Experiencing financial difficulty

-Is presently or has volunteered in Cochrane

The application deadline is June 1, 2023.

Some years the number of applicant's applying for the bursary is quite low, and Jollymore said they are hoping to see more students put their names forward this year.
