Some extremely clever high school students were recognized at last week's Rocky View School Board meeting for something that, for the rest of us, seems nearly impossible.

Seven students, representing five schools in the division, were acknowledged by the Board of Trustees for the achievement of getting a perfect mark on one of their provincial diploma exams in January.

"That is no small task and we're certainly proud of all of our students," said RVS Superintendent Greg Luterbach as he began the bios of the seven.  "But to pull of 100 (percent) on a diploma is certainly special and we recognize these students and we understand it's not just the students," then adds, "sorry kids," before continuing.  "It's also the families and the staff who all make this happen."

Two Cochrane students aced tests.  Onaya Fluker from Cochrane High School showed perfection in her Biology 30 diploma test and Kendra O'Hearn from Bow Valley High School got hers in Physics 30.

Three students from Springbank Community High School received perfect scores.  Jack Fraser's came in Social Studies 30-2, Minghao Li and Samantha Schiesser both achieved their 100 percent in Physics 30.

Cynthia Do, who attends Chestermere High, didn't make one, single mistake in Science 30.

One student from Airdrie also came through with a 100 percent mark.  JT Luterbach from Bert Church High School scored his second perfect mark, getting this one in Physics 30.  That goes along with his earlier 100 percent mark in June of 2019 which he achieved in Chemistry 30.

Superintendent Luterbach, who just happens to be JT's dad, acknowledges that the recognition for students who get perfect diploma exams marks is usually afforded by the trustees twice a year but for this year, this group will be the only ones since no diploma exams will be given in June after at-home learning started.

The students will be recognized on a plaque at the school division Education Centre.
