The University of Alberta is pulling their billboard advertisements which have come under scrutiny from critics concerned it promotes the benefits of climate change.

The billboards read, 'Beefier Barley", followed by "Climate change will boost Alberta's barley yield with less water, feeding more cattle."

A U of A spokesperson said in an email two billboards were located in Calgary and two in Edmonton.

University Relations Vice President, Jacqui Tam, said in a statement posted to the School's website Sunday, September 29, the research highlighted by the ad does not promote climate change as a benefit, nor was the the intention of the ad.

However, she says public response has made it clear the wording failed to communicate the meaning and complexity of the research.

"Because of this, the University is pulling the ad as soon as possible," Tam's statement continues.

Tam announced her departure from the school taking full responsibility, saying it's in the best interest of the institution.
