The U13AA Timberwolves have won their first-ever South Central Alberta Hockey League (SCAHL) championship two games straight against the Wheatland Braves and have advanced to the provincials.

On Mar. 18, the Timberwolves scored three in the second and two in the third to beat the Braves, 5-3. The next day in Strathmore, they took a 3-0 in the first seven minutes to go on to a 6-4 win.

Despite winning two straight, Timberwolves Head Coach Alec Miller says the Braves were tough opponents.

"It was a hard-fought series," says Timberwolves Head Coach Alec Miller. "No win came easily to us, but the boys came together and pulled it off. They worked hard for this."

Winning the first SCAHL banner for the U13 Timberwolves was special.

'It's awesome, and these kids are the foundation and hopefully the start of many more successful years to come."

Previous to that, they won the north division title against Red Deer Motors on Mar. 13.

He says it's a special year for this group of players. Many have played together since Timbits and once the season is over, they start to take their separate paths.

"It was a special opportunity for them, and they made the most of it. And. we're not done, which is awesome. We go to provincials now, which means we continue to be a wolf pack for a few more weeks."

Strathcona is hosting the U13AA provincials from Mar. 31 to Apr. 3.
