The success stories continued to roll in for teams of the Cochrane Minor Hockey Association.

The U13B south division banner from the Rocky Mountain Female League is now being proudly displayed in the SLS Family Sports Centre.

The Jr. Chaos finished fourth out of five teams in the 15-game regular season, but once playoffs kicked in, they rose to beat those who finished higher in the standings. They beat fifth-place Oktotoks to advance to the playoffs, then went on to play a top-seeded Lethbridge team in a two-game, total point series that came down to a shoot-out.

Cochrane beat Lethbridge 5-1 in the opening game of that series.

"We didn't score five goals against Lethbridge all year, and then to do that in the first game of the playoffs was very excited," says head coach Mark Shelborn.

The Jr. Chaos beat Medicine Hat in the south final to earn the banner and advanced to the best-of-three championship series against a Red Deer team. Red Deer won that series to secure a berth in the provincials.

"They're a great team, and they're going on to provincials, but we're just super excited and happy to have had the success we had in playoffs."

"Throughout the season, the girls learned a lot. We won a few and we lost more, but we had a lot of fun along the way, and it all just came together."

He says the banner win adds to the excitement already created by the rebranding of the female program.

"There are more and more girls getting interested in hockey, and the program's growth, coupled with the rebranding to Jr. Chaos, created a lot of excitement. It's just awesome to see."
