UPDATE: The line has been repaired and gas is back on in Gelneagles.

A gas line rupture near the pathway north of the new bridge does not pose any immediate danger, say town officials.

The town has posted a notice that the pathway is closed between the bridge and east end pedestrian rail crossing while repairs are being made by ATCO. Residents are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

In the meantime, residents may hear or smell the gas leaking, especially if they are travelling the Griffin Road, which remains open.

There are no reports of injuries and no immediate risk to public safety, states the town notice.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
