Cochrane Lanes was indeed rockin' on Sunday (March 16) as Cochranites came out to bowl for a worthy cause.

It was the 6th annual Bowl for Kids Sake in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Cochrane chapter and the spirit of the participating teams certainly did not disappoint.

David Case, the Communications and Marketing Specialist for BBBS, says the Cochrane community once again outdid themselves. "Not that I want to get too punny, but I would say it was a 'hit' and a 'record night.' We were thrilled with the Cochrane spirit, and Cochrane absolutely retained its crown as the most spirited of all of the Bowl for Kids Sake events. The costumes, the dancing...everything was just wonderful. All the teams just got so into the spirit of the event and had such a great time, and because they had a good time, I think everyone had a great time.

Not only was the team spirit evident, but those that support the event showed how big their hearts are and what our community is capable of. When totalling up the event's fundraising efforts and realizing the Cochrane chapter was short of last year's total by $350, a call out for help made all the difference. "It was certainly a moment when we let people know we were a few hundred dollars short of last year's fundraising total and that we wanted to meet and exceed that dollar amount. Just from the people we had in attendance, their friends and family, we were able to meet last year's fundraising total and then set a brand new record."

Wrapping up the event with a fundraising total of $16,024, Case anticipates the end dollar amount will be higher yet. "That is not the final total because the fundraising pages remain open for the remainder of the week for anyone who has a family member or friend who didn't quite make it and would still like to support Bowl for Kids Sake."

Lastly, Case states he couldn't be more pleased with this year's event. "Overall, we are very pleased with a total of over 16,000 dollars for mentoring in Cochrane. The dollars will be used and invested back into the community in terms of providing opportunities for the kids in Cochrane to have new experiences and participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters events. It will also be reinvested back into the program to maintain the matches we currently have, recruit more, train them, and grow the program. Every dollar that is raised in Rock and Bowl for Kids goes to the Cochrane programs and benefits Cochrane kids."

Looking forward to the 2020 event Case shares the theme will certainly provide a super great time.
