The forecast of clear sunny skies and temperatures in the high 20 are ideal for this Sunday's 3rd annual mini-meet at Ramada Cochrane, 10 Westside Dr.

The mini-meet, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is the first of three events being held in advance of the gigantic Show Your Ride for Brandon Thomas. It's a free fun event for auto enthusiasts no matter what they drive. In fact, you don't even have to bring a car to enjoy the afternoon, says Kim Thomas, one of the organizers.

Ramada Cochrane is providing the barbecue and all proceeds go towards organizing the gigantic Show Your Ride for Brandon event on Aug. 25..

"All vehicles are welcome, kids are welcome, dogs are welcome," says Thomas. "People don’t have to have a 'show vehicle' or any vehicle. Stop by, bring the kids and enjoy the barbecue and mini-show and meet some great people."

Ramanda Cochrane continues to generously donate the use of their front parking lot and also supply the barbecue. Food is available by donation and all the proceeds go towards the major event at the Calgary Stampede Grounds, Aug. 25.

Just one week later, a poker run is being held June 9 that is being jointly organized by the Show Your Ride committee and the United Bikers Against Child Abuse. For $20, participants get cards for their hand along the route and can enjoy a barbecue at the final stop. It starts in Calgary and ends at Ghost Lake. The registration desk opens at 8:30 a.m. and roll out/kicks-stands-up is at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Watch for more details.

On July 7, there's also a cruise to Drumheller. That's also a new event. Vehicles leave at 9:30 a.m. sharp from Century Downs, just outside Airdrie, and will park by the World's Largest Dinosaur in Drumheller for a mini-show. There's been great response to the event, perhaps because it gives auto enthusiasts a chance to do what they love... cruise.
