An online public survey is now live and seeking input on what makes Cochrane a great place as the Cochrane Tourism Association (CTA) kicks off a public engagement program. You'll also be able to provide your input in person at their booth during this weekend's Cochrane Trade Show at the SLS Family Sports Centre.

The CTA wants to know what are the most important aspects of Cochrane to promote and what makes Cochrane better or different from other places. Finding the right words to promote the area is key and your thoughts on what those words should be is also sought, in addition to other questions in the survey.

“We know that Cochrane is special, but we need help to identify what activities or experiences (our assets) make Cochrane unique,” says CTA executive director Jo-Anne Oucharek. “We are turning to the people who know this town best to provide their input and get involved in this project.”

Right now people can go online www.cochrane-tourism.ca/survey or participate in several public events over the next two months. By participating in this weekend's trade show you will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of five gift baskets from local businesses.

Seeking Branding Group Members

CTA is also seeking applicants for their Brand Development Working Group, lead by a branding expert, that will meet regularly between July and November.

Branding is more than a logo or catchline; it provides a meaningful way for people to connect.

The working group will walk through a series of exercises that will inform the development of a narrative for the Cochrane Experience brand. Interested parties may apply online by June 8 at www.cochrane-tourism.ca/brand.

Watch For Cochrane Visitor's Guide on Your Doorstep

Keep an eye on your doorstep for the arrival of the 2018 Cochrane Visitor’s Guide. It's filled with ideas for activities and outings in and around Cochrane. While you're out enjoying the day in Cochrane, CTA also welcomes you the snap a few shots and pass them along.

“We’re encouraging locals to explore in their own backyards this summer and share photos with us on social media using #VisitCochraneAB,” says Oucharek. “All submissions have a chance to be featured on our Instagram page over the course of this year.”

About Cochrane Tourism

The CTA's mission is to increase the economic impact of tourism in Cochrane by supporting the creations of tourism products, fostering productive business relationships and creating effective and consistent marketing.

These products and experiences aren't just for visitors; they enhance life here.

“Tourism isn’t just for tourists," says Oucharek. "Having a variety of experiences and activities here also provides opportunities for Cochranites to enjoy.”
