The Cochrane Activettes are gearing up for their 45th anniversary, but that's not why tasty cupcakes were being given out in the Historic Downtown on July 28.

It was all about the food bank, explains newly-elected Activettes president Sue Lunnin.

"This is to thank the community for all their generosity. We live in such a wonderful community that is just so generous," she says.

"On top of that, it's our 45th anniversary this year, so this is one of our first events towards that. We were at the Canada Day event, but we're giving to the community today with some special cupcakes, juice, and water."

They had a few hundred cupcakes on hand to giveaway.

The next big event for their 45th-anniversary celebration is their annual pancake breakfast on Labour Day before the parade starts.

"Again, it's just another small way that we can give back to the community, and that event is by donation."

We can expect to hear more soon about what other events this incredible service organization has in store for the year ahead.
