The good news is there were no fatalities due to motor vehicle collisions in Alberta during Alberta RCMP's #OperationImpact2022 initiative on thanksgiving weekend. 

The operation ran from October 7 to 10 and although there were no fatalities, there were 21 motor vehicle collisions that resulted in injuries. 

Alberta RCMP issued 2,653 tickets which broke down to 1,328 speeding charges, 18 excessive speeding charges (50 km/h over the posted limit), 58 driving without seatbelt charges, and 65 distracted driving charges. 

Additionally, 88 impaired drivers were removed from provincial roadways. 

RCMP say they received 40 calls from the public notifying them of dangerous or suspected impaired drivers on the road.
