The Battle is heating up between Calgary area teams vying to make the provincials in the junior ladies lacrosse division of the Rocky Mountin Lacrosse League.

After splitting games on the weekend, the Silvertips have a hold on third place but it continues to be a tight race between them and two other Calgary area teams for third and fourth place.

The Tips currently have a three point cushion and a game in hand over the Okotoks Raiders who are only one point ahead of the Calgary Axemen.

The Tips have four games remaining in the regular season, three of them at home, and they wrap up their regular season on June 25. Only the top four teams make it into the post-season.

The Tips lost June 10 against the top-ranked Sherwood Park Titans. The team took an early 2-0 lead but the Titans came back hard and were ahead 5-4 by the end of the first stanza. The Titans scored 10 more in the second compared to two by the Tips then tallied three more unanswered goals in the third.

Tips goals were scored by Annie Morrison (affiliate Cassidy O’Neill, Kim Stainthorpe), affiliate Emma Arifin (affiliate Rylynn Hills), Hills, Lauren Murphy and Kara Kondrat (goalie Payton Gammon).

Not disheartened, the Tips rebounded in their Sunday game against the St Albert Drillers, winning 12-2.

The Tips put six in the net vs one by the Drllers in the first. Kara Kondrat scored four and Christina Olver scoring two with assists going to Olver, Annie Morrison and goalie Mikayla Miller. They outshot the Drillers 2-1 in the second and had goals scored by Kondrat and Annie Morrison (Rovanna Irvin and Kya Beagle-Gehrke).. The Tips scored four unanswered goals in the third. Kim Stainthorpe scored on a breakaway, then Rovanna Irvin from Mackenzie Cameron and Kya Beagle-Gehrke, a power play goal by Kondrat from Olver and Lauren Murphy and final goal by Murphy from Kondrat and Jaimie Betterton on powerplay.

The Silvertips face the Okotoks Raiders on the road Wednesday night.
