The Cochrane and Area Humane Society (CAHS) received a large donation Friday morning that will go a long way in keeping tails wagging.

Vintage West Wines ran a fundraiser across Alberta with its Bread and Butter wines for the CAHS and the Alberta SPCA where 50 cents from each bottle sold went towards the animals.

It reached a grand total of $15,000, with half going to the animals in Cochrane.

“It's something very close to my heart and my business partner's heart,” says Shauna Hansen, managing partner and owner of Vintage West Wines. “We just knew that we had to start giving back to the communities that our products were sold in and that we did well in.”

“It's been animals and food banks and support to children's lunches that we've been donating money to for the past four years.”

Tiffany Beaton, communications coordinator for the Humane Society says donations like this can go a long way for the local animals.

“This is an incredible support for the Humane Society. It's been a slower year and having people doing third-party events for us is huge for helping bring in some extra income for the shelter.”

Over the past four years, Vintage West Wines has donated over $225,000 in Western Canada from its fundraising campaigns.
