Over the past 24 hours, the province reported an additional 1,437 new cases of COVID-19, after completing 17,000 tests.

Dr. Hinshaw took to Twitter yesterday (Sunday, April 25) to share provincial numbers.

"There are 594 people in hospital including 140 in ICU," Hinshaw reported. "Sadly, three new deaths were reported over the past 24 hours. My condolences go out to anyone mourning the loss of a loved one."

The weekend numbers saw a drop in the positivity rate to 8.6 per cent with 932 Variants of Concern also identified.

 Variants currently account for 61.1 per cent of provincial cases.

Dr. Hinshaw continues to urge eligible  Albertans to book their immunizations against COVID-19.

"One of the most important steps you can take is to be vaccinated when you’re eligible," says Hinshaw. " All vaccines are safe, effective and save lives."

Cochrane's active case count dropped slightly over the weekend from 151 to 149 and Rocky View County added 11 new cases and now accounts for a total of 179.
