The Cochrane and District Agricultural Society (CDAS) has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Community Facility Enhancement Program of the Alberta Government.

CDAS president Justin Burwash says the funds will assist in the replacement of their indoor arena roof. They've been completing it section-by-section and estimate it will cost just under $400,000 once done.

"This is a big step forward in getting the whole thing done," says Burwash, who appreciates the support provided by the Alberta Government.

He says they will continue to search for other capital funding sources and fund-raising endeavours.

"We'll look for the rest of the funds hopefully over the next 18 months to try and piece together the rest of the funds to get a new roof on there."
