More than a dozen vehicles were pulled off the road during an inspection of commercial vehicles last week.

Lake Louise RCMP along with Alberta Sheriffs and Parks Canada inspected the vehicles in the Lake Louise area from Sept. 28 - 29.

More than 50 commercial vehicles were inspected, with 33 of them passing.

Fourteen vehicles were pulled out of service, and six were identified as “requiring immediate attention”.

Fifty-two tickets were handed out.

Sgt. Susan Richter, Detachment Commander of the Lake Louise RCMP said the purpose of the two-day event was to ensure vehicles were operating safely.

“In this operation, we aimed to enhance public safety by focusing on three things – safe vehicles, safe drivers, and safe roads. This initiative was one way we have used education and enforcement to ensure our roadways are safe for everyone using them. I am very appreciative of the assistance provided by the Alberta Sheriffs and Parks Canada.”
