The Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area is looking for the community's help to raise funds for valuable programs for youth in town.

The club will host a Newfie Night at the Texas Gate on Sept. 16, which will include a fish fry dinner, silent auction and Screeching In ceremony all in support of of the Boys and Girls Club.

Boys and Girls Club Operations and Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Harper says all money raised will go directly into their programming.

"We do out of school care programs for anywhere between Kindergarten up to Grade six. We also do youth drop in where teenagers anywhere between 13 and 18 can come and drop in and just hang out," she says. "We also run a variety of programs that only cost families and individuals $10 per year, so the money goes into those programs, such as chess club, guitar lessons, and junior chef programs."

She shares any assistance from the community is welcome, as enrollment in programs has grown immensely.

"Most of our out of school care programs are full, we only have a handful of spots remaining. This is the highest enrollment year that we have on record, we have just over 1000 members this year."
