The Bobcat Backers Society is on a mission to raise money to meet the needs of students at Bow Valley High School.

They are a newly formed non-profit group of  made up of parents, guardians and volunteers from the community.

The group meets regularly to discuss the school's needs and plan fundraising events. The Backers are hosting their first fundraising event next Friday, It's a screening of the

remake of "Charlie's Angel's" at the Cochrane Movie House.

Judy Heck is part of the organization and she says they have large goals that they are working towards.

"We are raising funds for a variety of items needed by the school to help support the school and help enhance student learning. The top need identified by the school

administration is a seven or eight passenger van to help transport our life skills students. Those are the students with the most complex needs at the high school. The van is

needed to take them to their work experience which is incorporated into their alternative learning program and this will help prepare them for the future."

Some of the other items they're working towards are a cosmetology lab to better support students interested in learning about the field and they're also hoping to upgrade

technology throughout the school.

The Bobcat Backers Society is hoping for a full house at their event next weekend.

The new "Charlie's Angels" movie starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska is playing at the Cochrane Movie House on Friday, November 15th at 3:30 pm.

Tickets are available on eventbrite for $11, and concessions are available by cash only.
