The Cochrane Activettes 'Share Your Christmas' campaign has been running for 30+ years.

Connie Craig, Cochrane Activettes, Secretary says this year they were able to support 703 individuals (223 females, 177 males, 303 under 18) who needed a hand up this holiday season.

"We were actually predicting about 220 families, and we got 207. That 207 also doesn't include nine seniors that we helped at the Bethany Care Centre or for the people that came in after our Share Your Christmas Day which was December 17."

The need in Cochrane continues to grow and Craig does not foresee the numbers going down.

"The town is still growing, as the town grows so will the need for our food bank too; because even the number of hampers we give out on a regular basis has doubled over the last year or two as well.

Food and toy donations were good, and Craig says although she doesn't have the exact total, the Activettes met their monetary goal.

"I know we wanted to raise a $100,000 and we did do that, we got over a $100,000. We were very happy to see that."

For now the shelves at the Food Bank are stocked, but it won't take long for supplies to dwindle.

"Our food bank is full of food right now, and there is a food drive in 4 months from now. I am sure a lot of it will be gone by the time the end of April rolls along."
