SECOND UPDATE:

Airdrie RCMP took four males into custody following complaints of victims being shot with BB guns last night (September 18).

At 9:30 p.m multiple calls were received about males with a gun.  The RCMP responded actively, including deploying Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team.  Calgary Police Service’s HAWCS assisted while RCMP searched for the males.

By 11:45 p.m., the RCMP took four males into custody and the shelter in place in the downtown core was lifted.

Three of the males have been released and charges are pending against one 19-year-old male from Airdrie, who remains in custody.

Six people were treated for minor injuries.

The investigation continues.

As of 11:29 pm, RCMP SAY THEY HAVE 4 individuals in custody. They are asking residents in the downtown and midtown areas to continue to "shelter in place" as the investigation is ongoing.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

Details are just emerging but RCMP are dealing with a serious incident that has left an unknown number of people injured.

According to initial reports, one person is in custody and RCMP are searching for others after an "active shooting type situation".

RCMP say the suspects were using BB guns.

Mounties day multiple people were injured from at least six different locations.

One person is in custody, but it's believed others may be involved and RCMP are searching for additional suspects.

As of 10:55 pm RCMP are asking any and all residents in the downtown or midtown communities or surrounding areas to stay inside and ensure their doors are locked.

This is a developing situation and more details are expected.
