The CFR Chemicals Midget AAA Bisons are inviting parents and hockey players to learn more about their organization at an information session in Cochrane, June 26.

Since the announcement of their relocation to Airdrie, the team has been developing partnerships to enhance the experience for their players and they're now ready to share that information.

"Cochrane is the second biggest drawing area in our zone so it's very important that everybody in Cochrane knows about us and have the opportunity to learn what our program can bring," says head coach Dan Gendur.

The Alberta Midget Hockey League club has partnered with Global Sport Academy and the Rocky View School Division to allow players to attend George McDougall High School in Airdrie. The program will include daytime practices three times a week, off ice fitness programs and an education program. Being part of the Global Sport Academy also allows Bison player to access to world-class coaches, sports specialists and health care professionals.

The system in place will also help prepare the elite midget players for the possibility to advancement to the next level of hockey.

"It will help prepare them to move on to junior programs where they'll be living away from home, they'll going to a different school, they'll be living with a billet family and all those sort of things," explains Gendur.

Besides Gendur and assistant coach Dustin Taylor, Global Sports Academy CEO Mark Maloney and representatives of the Bisons' board of directors will be in attendance. The session is being held at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre's multipurpose room and starts at 7 p.m.
