RCMP are still searching for the suspect connected to a worrisome situation in Cochrane this week.

Residents of Bow Ridge were told to shelter-in-place just after 9:30 a.m. Monday after a complaint that a suspect left his home on a scooter with a firearm.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted approximately one hour later, and Mounties stated that they believed the suspect was no longer in the area.

Cst. Clayton Gelinas said officers are still looking for the man but their search has widened.

"It's still an active investigation with several policing agencies looking for him. With our knowledge, he is no longer believed to be in Cochrane."

Safety is the number one priority and Cochrane residents are being told not to worry.

"A firearm was seized at the location of the call. To our knowledge, he doesn't have another one."

"Cochranites should definitely feel safe right now. There is no threat to the community. If there is an increased threat we will certainly let the public know. Please enjoy your day and your evening. Cochrane is still a very safe place."

Charges are pending for Greg Deviat, who is known to police.
