Donations of books are being accepted for the semi-annual Friends of the Cochrane Public Library's upcoming Book Sale.

Chantal Barber, chair of the Friends of the Cochrane Public Library Society said this event would not be possible without the dedicated work from all of the volunteers.

"We're going to need some volunteers for the Friday evening setup to organize all the books and then the Saturday and Sunday just to keep putting new books out as books sell."

The sale always includes a wide selection of book titles to suite a variety of interests.

"Cochrane really shows up and donates a ton of books in the library for the weeks before. We usually have anywhere between six and 10 pallets worth of books that we're putting out. All of our books are sold by donation and we do take debit or cash."

"Books can be expensive, you can come and you can just donate what you have and all proceeds go to the library."

The group is hoping to raise between $8000 to $9000 from the sale. With proceeds going to buy a self checkout machine.

Donations are currently being accepted at the Cochrane Public Library.

Proceeds from the last book sale helped to purchase new computer monitors for the library.

"We just ask that they bring books that are in good condition, so no stains or tears or water damage. Ideally, if they're published in the last five to seven years, as well, we do take DVDs, CDs, and video games that are in good condition."

The book sale is set for June 1 & 2 at the Cochrane RancheHouse.
