The stage has been set for the finale in the U18 female exhibition series between Team Canada and the USA.

Canada took the lead late but the Americans scored a powerplay goal with eight seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. They scored the winner on another powerplay goal 1:32 into overtime.

The Lake Placid series is now tied one game apiece and the winning will be determined on Saturday afternoon.

Cochrane's Sarah Wozniewicz assisted on Canada's first goal after winning a clean faceoff deep into the Americans zone to allow Ann-Frédérik Naud to wire a point-blank shot past goalie Amanda Thiele.

The Amercians applied pressure in Canada's defensive zone, landing 35 shots compared to Canada's 20.

Head coach Howie Draper says the team has to go toe-to-toe in their own end if they want to win Saturday.

“We have to be better in our defensive zone; we have to pressure the puck, we have to take away their time and space," says Draper. "They’re a great team, and if you give them time and space, they are going to hurt you. We have to close gaps, and make sure that we’re making contact. We just have to be prepared to go toe-to-toe.”

Saturday's game time is 1 p.m. MST.
