Cochrane RCMP have laid a charge in connection with a serious-injury collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist that occurred early yesterday afternoon (Aug. 13) on Hwy. 22 near Bragg Creek.

A 19-year-old motorist from Calgary has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, RCMP public information officer, says the name of the accused won't be released until the information is sworn.

"We are still continuing to investigate the circumstances around this collision," says Cpl. Savinkoff, "However, we were at a point where we felt that we could lay that charge."

The initial investigative measures included taking statements from witnesses. The motorist also remained at the scene of the collision.

The cyclist was transported to a Calgary hospital by STARS air ambulance.

Savinkoff says he remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
