In early November, the Christmas Elves had a lofty goal of collecting gifts for about 1,100 seniors in the Cochrane area.

With deliver slated for next week, they need a few more to get them over the top.

Cheryl DeMaere Ellis, of the Elves, says they need 71 more gifts for women and 65 for men, plus 50 blankets for seniors on long-term care. Gifts can be dropped off at Cochrane Toyota.

She's thrilled with the generosity that has been displayed by Cochranites over the years to help brighten Christmas for local seniors.

The gifts will be delivered to senior homes on Dec. 20. The day before she anticipates bringing gifts to those living independently.
