The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC) is once again holding a virtual Silent Auction this year and as CISC Board of Directors member, Jaya Dixit explains the weeklong event kicks off with an appetizer night.

"It all kicks off on March 9 with a meal-box fundraiser," explains Dixit. "There's an opportunity to contact us and sign up in advance and the idea is to raise funds for the activities, programming and supports that Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee provides to folks that are new to our community."

This year's event is being held in partnership with the Chinese Wok, and according to Dixit, the appetizer boxes are generously sized with a pretty great price tag.

"It's called Taste Delights and Raise Goodness," explains Dixit. "Each box costs $20 and there is a choice of items from Chinese Wok. It's a pretty generous box, it's intended to feed two people but I think it could potentially stretch a little bit further."

Those who purchase an appetizer box will also get a sneak peek at the auction items up for bid.

"We have a number of generously donated items from community businesses and community members," explains Dixit. "There are baskets made up of local wares and goods, and The Boys & Girls Club in Cochrane has generously donated a week of camp."

You can place your appetizer orders from now until March 9 by phone at: (403) 702-5675 or you can email CISCCochrane@gmail.com.

The Chinese combo boxes can be picked between 5-7 p.m. on March 9 at the Chinese Wok located at 22 Westside Drive.

Dixit says that bidding is open to everyone and the auction link will go live on the Cochrane Newcomers Facebook Page as well as Instagram at 7 p.m. sharp.

The Taste Delights and Raise Goodness fundraiser wraps up on March 16.
