Cochrane Economic Development, the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce and Prospect Human Services have teamed up to help Cochrane residents find the perfect job.
Heidi Lane, workforce advisor with Prospect Human Services says they're hosting a job fair today and it's a great opportunity for job seekers to meet with a wide variety of employers.
"They'll have the opportunity to chat and meet with different representatives from various organizations that are actively hiring. It's a fantastic opportunity for those who are seeking work. It's a rare opportunity to be able to meet face to face with those who are applying, with the digital online landscape seen with most application processes."
You don't need to pre-register for the event but there are a couple of things to remember before showing up.
"You don't have to wear a suit or anything like that, but you know that saying, dress for the job that you want. So if there's something in particular you have in mind, I would take that into consideration. In general a clean, well kept up appearance doesn't hurt things."
Lane also reminds job seekers to bring their resume.
"Definitely bring updated copies of your resume. We will actually have a resume review booth that Prospect is going to be supporting job seekers with. It's just a five minute resume review for some high level tips and we actually have some workshops that'll be running throughout as well."
There are nearly 30 organizations registered.
They're offering a free shuttle service to the event. A Taxi 4U shuttle will pick job seekers up starting at 3 p.m. at the Prospect Human Services office or The Station and take them to SLS Centre.
The Cochrane Job Fair goes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at SLS Centre.
